Mount Rushmore Pilgrimage

The Amazing Adventure Continues

Out-of-State troops are welcome to join Troop 7 and other troops on the annual Mount Rushmore Pilgrimage in September. Hundreds of Scouts converge on Mount Rushmore National Memorial from day hikes through the Black Hills National Forest, Custer State Park, Norbeck Wildlife Preserve and Black Elk Wilderness. There are four different hiking trails taken by the Scouts.

1999 will be the 51st anniversary of the historic hike. Walk over ponderosa pine covered mountains, through mountain streams and amongst quaking aspen stands. Scouts often see deer, wild turkeys and sometimes mountain goats. Hilarious skits entertain Scouts at the pre-hike campfire. Sleep under the stars at one of the four campgrounds, which other campers avoid during the screaming Scout invasion. Eat ice cream at the Mount before the closing ceremony. And enjoy the perfect fall mountain weather which is unconditionally guaranteed for the hike.
